December 30, 2008

Wow, the whirlwind of the holidays is starting to wind down. We had a busy Christmas week complete with family visiting, lots of present wrapping and unwrapping, and a stomach bug..... Luckily the kids and I did not get it, just Taylor and his Dad, Brother and his finance. I felt pretty bad, they all came from out of state to visit and not only did they get sick, but they got sick in the house of the Lysol Nazi (that would be me), sorry guys I just didn't want to be cleaning up baby and kid puke!

Christmas was a lot of fun (pre-stomach bug). Trent has a sort of love hate relationship with Santa. He refused to go 'see' him this year and on Christmas eve when I was lying down with Trent at bed time he said, "Mom, is Santa going to come and give me a kiss?" not knowing what he wanted the answer to be I responded by asking, "Is that what you want?" and he said, "No, I love him but I don't want him to kiss me." He did leave milk and Cookies and of course a carrot for the reindeer.

I have greatly enjoyed the time off of work and school. Last week was spent getting ready for the holiday and preparing for family to visit, but this week has been filled with laziness and fun with the kids. Each day we spend lots of time in our P.J.'s and playing with all of the fun new toys that Christmas brought. We have also managed to make it to the Zoo and the special Dinosaur exhibit and IMAX at the museum. We don't have any big plans for New Years, but we are looking forward to spending the weekend in Breckenridge with friends and taking Trent skiing for the first time!

Santa brought drumsticks, no drum just the sticks:)
Basketball Boy

We got a new sledding tube and had to try it out (it slides across grass too:)
Everyone finally crashed with 'Uncle Taylor'

Last night we went over to Cherry Creek Mall. Dinner at the food court is a big night out for us:) We also went because they had a Polar Express exhibit and Trent is very into that movie. The exhibit was a bit smaller than we were expecting but we went through it several times and Trent seemed to enjoy it.

December 10, 2008

We have been decorating a little bit differently this year. Because things have been a little hectic, we have been putting a few ornaments on the tree each night and putting one or two decorations out. I kind of like slowing things down a bit. The downside is that the 'decorations' are sitting all over the house until we get to them, but the upside is that we get to enjoy when we put them up/out rather than just rushing through it. Caden's favorite decoration is this jingle bell door hanger. He loves to get it off of the door, put it around his waist and 'scoot' in high Caden fashion!

I took Trent to his 4 year old check up the other day, he grew a little over 3 inches! I got to thinking about how how fast they have been growing and how quickly they change. I have attached a picture from December last year and December of this year for you to compare:)
