November 21, 2008

Last night I was putting Trent to bed. Taylor wasn't around so we had just crawled into our bed and I was about to start reading the 'bedtime stories' when my sister called. I wanted to talk for a minute so I told Trent that I would find a football game on t.v. for him to watch (Isn't it sickening that he already will sit and stare at a football game on the tube!). I started to check ABC, NBC, etc. and wasn't finding anything. Trent said to me that he knew where the football was. So, I handed him the remote and he turned it right to ESPN! Of course there was a football game on:) That kid has such a great memory! Believe me it's not like we have 'taught' him the channels or even how to use the remote. I was amazed that he had just been so observant that he knew which number, to punch it in and push enter.

Trent is turning 4! Wow, tomorrow is Trent's 4th birthday, it is hard to believe it. For me time has moved more quickly since he was born. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems like I barely blink and another year goes by... I wish it would slow down!

Here are some picture from his birthday party that we had over the weekend. I think that the kids all had a great time.

Karen, Trent liked the Dragon:)

The fall is definitely a busy time of year for us. We went from one birthday to the next and now we are heading into the holiday season. One of my friends told me that she finished her Christmas shopping today, maybe one day I will be on top of things like that:) But for now, we will continue to enjoy the mess of the birthday party around our house, the clean laundry will stay sitting in the basket it has been in for the last week, and I will keep renewing those library books that I haven't found time to take back!

November 9, 2008

How is it November 9th already..... Well, I survived a marathon weekend of class, but now have more than enough homework to keep me up late for the rest of the week!

This picture is from Thursday of last week. Caden can crawl well and is starting to walk with help, but his favorite mode of transportation these days is 'scooting'. In this picture, he managed to get himself under the high chair and started scooting. Problem was his bottom doesn't get off of the ground so he took the high chair with him wherever he went! Trent and I had fun calling him to us all over the room and watching him drag the chair as he came to us:)This weekend, Taylor and Trent enjoyed cleaning up the leaves in the backyard.

November 5, 2008

So, I have been meaning to post pictures from Caden's first birthday. It is hard to believe that he is one already! We had a great time visiting with everyone, and all of the little ones enjoyed 'helping' Caden open his gifts.

Of course following the birthday party we underwent a toy purge at our house. (If any of you try this at your house, I suggest doing it when the kids are in bed!) Trent and I began going through the toys one morning 'picking ' out toys that he wanted to keep and those that he wanted to give away. The problem was that Trent insisted that he still played with everything, even the McDonalds toys that we had more than one of, he used both of them:) Finally, I gave up, put a movie on for him and I 'picked' the toys to get rid of.

November 1, 2008

I can hardly believe that it is November already! This is going to be a busy month for me. Many of you know I am working on my degree in school psychology, and am taking my classes on the weekend. After this semester I will only have two classes left and then my internship, Yeah! However, to get to next semester is going to mean making it through November.... Whoever makes our class schedule is not very considerate, I have class every weekend this month, with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend, Yikes. It's not that I can't handle the lectures, it's just that when I have to go to class on the weekends I miss Taylor and the kids. Hopefully it will all be worth it in the long run and will bring us more time together when I finish!

Football is a favorite activity in our house. Everyone gets involved. Trent usually makes the rules, and they vary depending on the person playing with him. He doesn't like Daddy to score touch downs, G.B. has to play on her knees, and while I can score touchdowns; he always has to have more than me. Caden loves to watch and play when he is 'allowed'. The pictures here are from a pick up game in the living room this evening.

P.S. Thanks G.B. for doing all of our laundry!
